I am starting to get excited about the possibilities...
Before I retired from the Navy, I promised Deirdre that I would not start to look for a job until after the first of the year. I was relatively true to my word, as Deirdre found a couple of interesting openings and with her encouragement I applied for these positions. Well, to make a short story even shorter, I never heard back from either company. Deirdre, being the employment and hiring maven that she is, introduced me to a website Uncle Sam uses to advertise positions within the federal government. In the span of the last 24 hours, I have applied for two different jobs advertised on this site, and when I was getting ready to take out the trash yesterday, I found another advertised in Sunday's paper for a facilities engineer for Alcoa.
Well, in my e-mail Inbox this morning, there was another interesting job that was just posted. It is an assignment working for the State Department as at a National Passport Information Center as a Liaison Officer. One of the job requirements is that you have to be eligible for a government security clearance, which I still possess. I am going to tweak my resume a little and apply for this position working for State Department this weekend.
While I have enjoyed my time off, and Deirdre has certainly liked having a house husband taking care of all household duties, but I am ready to get back into the rat race and get a job. To be honest, I am excited about all the possibilities that are out there for me. It also helps to have Deirdre's advice and assistance in this evolution.
